WARDROBE

Here lies all my dresses! Photos will be forthcoming

Baroque Sleeping Lily OP (2021)

I got this OP when I went to a lolita fashion event where I got to see it in person which is a rare occurance for me since I live pretty far away from anything! I had a mental debate on whether I would get it as I felt like I was reaching a possible saturation point with my dress inventory. Afterwards I impulsely decided to go for it as I didn't have any lolita-specific black OPs. It was actually a great decision as its one of my most comfortable and versatile pieces I have! Cinch the waist in for a conventional look! Leave it open as an a-line! Layer it with a skirt or even another dress! Truly the style potato in my closet.

Victorian Maiden Classical Doll OP (2017)

This was one of my dream dresses when I first started getting into lolita fashion, but alas I was but a high school kid with no disposable income to call my own. Years later with an actual income VM announced that they were going out of business but as a last hurrah released this dress in multiple lengths and colorways. My first choice was actually pink, but I'm glad I got the red version as well. For me this dress in this colorway is the definition of classic lolita and I'm glad I was able to get it before their return and shift to their modern style. For how hype I am about this dress though I actually haven't styled it that often since I'm not sure how much accessories I have to go with it!

Leur Getter Feerie OP (2020???)

RIP Leur Getter. As they shut down and their brand never had the same level of documentation as actual lolita brands my date was based on the official twitter's oldest tweet featuring it. I was drawn to this dress the moment I saw it in closetchild. Nice green, cute collar, comfy sizing and cut made for casual dressing. What more could I want from such a dress. Now it turns out the waist bow was sewn on to the dress but that's an easy fix. Here lies the real and strangest problem I have with it: the sound it makes when I walk in it. For whatever reason, whether from the lining or other materials used, it always sounds something like a swooshing plastic bag with every movement. I still love it enough to not sell it off and I do want to work with it but man I never expected that coming.

Vintage Green Silk Dresshirt (1950s/1960s?)

All I could glean from the dress itself was two tags that said "Japan" and "12" as well as the fact the design and findings on it seem like either 1950s/early 1960s. The owner of the antique store I bought it from guessed that it might have been custom made in Japan but somehow never worn. It's a beautiful light jade silk and the french cuffs are a detail I haven't seen very often on a dress so far. I will include detail shots of the construction since it was clear a lot of work went into its construction. The only issue is that the stitching was pretty delicate due to age and I ended up tearing some of the catchstitching on the hem and one of the snaps on the belt broke off during my try on :|. It was also a little bit in the bust, but nothing a tailor could try to fix. As I was writing this I also realized I had not one but three dresses that have western designs with Japanese textiles/design elements. I would only have three nickels which isn't a lot but weird that it happened thrice.

Vintage Black Velvet Dress(1950s)

Bought at the same time as the dress above. I couldn't find a size label for it, and the brand label itself was barely legible. The most interesting detail is the gathered eyelet lace at the sleeves as it provides a cute detail on a dress made with a heavy, severe fabric. The tragedy is that the bust is far too big for me and the bust darts make it so taking it in would be a pain. All the tailor could do is take in the side seams, so I'll see whether I'm going to have a very involved project in the future.
